Protecting the environmental integrity of the planet earth has become one of the most critical issues of the 21st century. The alarm bells have been ringing everywhere, especially for those countries occupying the Global South. Some of the most pressing problems include the pollution of our air, soil, and water bodies, making it difficult to breathe, farm, and fish; the ineffective ways in which we treat and dispose of human excreta and sewage, cause sickness and disease everywhere; the rapid decrease of our forest cover, adversely affecting our rain cycle, biodiversity, and soil quality; and the constantly rising sea level, compromising coastal habitats for those countries that have the advantage of bordering the ocean.
Ghana, of course, suffers from all of these, and many other, environmental problems. In this public lecture, however, we plan to focus on three of the most compelling ones that have been earning the attention of the public at-large: (1) sanitation, (2) waste management, and (3) climate change.
Join us as these three closely related environment concerns are addressed by experts in the public, private, and academic sectors.
